Our Reuilly Rosé from Jean-Michel Sorbe has a new label for the 2019 vintage that will be tasted as of this summer 2020; appreciated even from its youth, it is endowed with a beautiful aging ability, enhancing over the next few years. This original, elegant, 100% Pinot Gris wine comes in a beautiful bottle with a pyramidal punt, inspiring its new Art Deco design, transparent and minimalist, thus revealing its soft pink hues, slightly nuanced with salmon touches.
Domaine Jean-Michel Sorbe, owned by the House of Joseph Mellot, produces AOC Reuilly and Quincy wines, two appellations that are among the oldest in France. The Reuilly appellation area covers only 275 hectares, planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It is from this last grape variety that we make a tender and delicate rosé, La Muse. An original and rare rosé, considering that Pinot Gris is essentially vinified for white wines in other regions such as in Alsace.
Our Pinot Gris, from vineyards aged over thirty years, is grown under the certification Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE), on a very small area of terroir (barely a 1/2 hectare), characterized by its alluvial deposit. Like all of our vineyards, reasoned agriculture is practiced with mechanical weeding and tillage, promoting the vegetative cycle of the grape variety.
The 2019 vintage was harvested early September, after a mild and rainy winter, a spring punctuated by a few frosts, precipitation, and high temperatures, then a hot and dry summer.
Obtained by direct pressing in a mechanical press, it benefited from cold settling and fermentation in thermoregulated stainless-steel vats, before ageing on fine lees in stainless-steel vats as well.
A balanced and elegant 2019 vintage
La Muse from Jean-Michel Sorbe is regularly distinguished by renowned and professional tasters, as was the case recently by M magazine du Monde and Le Journal du Dimanche.
With its slightly salmon color, La Muse 2019 has a full and delicate nose, with notes of peonies and roses, and hints of vineyard peaches. Its succulent mouth is sustained by a beautiful balance. The presence of white stone fruits gives it a beautiful balance, elegance, and a nice persistence.
This gastronomical rosé, rare due to its limited production, is enjoyed beginning with the aperitif, going beautifully with fish terrines from the banks of the Loire, friendly platters of cold cuts or even with white meats. La Muse 2019 also goes well with more exotic cuisine, including sweet and salty recipes.
