Plenty of sun, very beautiful red and white grapes…the harvest advances wonderfully at JOSEPH MELLOT Domaines!
Beautiful harvest days…
Our harvesters are in the vineyards, a warm, friendly and festive atmosphere rhythm these beautiful days of September. Secateurs in hand, they go from one vine to the other selecting with dexterity the most beautiful grape clusters.
The grapes are then carefully transported to the winery where the oenologist of the domaine works in the cellar with a rigorous and demanding approach. The vinification methods of white and red wines are adapted according to the style sought for the wines.
A meticulous work for exceptional wines
Throughout the seasons, from pruning to winemaking, going through the disbudding, the harvest of our vines; the meticulous work, the perfect knowledge of the vineyards and terroirs, all allowed the vineyard Manager to magnify the different cultivated varieties.
After a particularly rainy spring, the grapes were able to draw their strength from the waterlogged soil during the spring drought! The quality of grapes is superb and it seems to be a promising vintage!
For these 8 appellations, the Domaine primarily works the two emblematic grape varieties of Sancerre wines: Sauvignon blanc and Pinot noir.
The diversity of terroirs, parcels and varieties promises different wines full of character…elegant, pure, refined, powerful, light and delicate!
Amateur photographers, come and enjoy the last days of autumn to come walk around the vines and photograph the magnificent colors of the eight appellations of Centre Val de Loire, Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Coteaux du Giennois, Menetou Salon, Quincy, Reuilly, Chateaumeillant…and snatch the few forgotten grapes in the vineyards!
We will be delighted to welcome you and guide you on your wine touristic journey.
